As well as being the National Championships, this competition is the qualifier for the World Biathle Championships to be held in Monaco on 30th September. Although the GB Team will consist of up to six from each class, if you finish in the top five in your class, subject to a satisfactory performance *, you will be eligible for selection for the Great Britain team and should declare your availability and complete the entry forms before you leave Salford. The remaining places will be decided by the selectors. If you do not declare your availability on the day, your place may be given to a reserve. The next four finishers (6th to 9th) will be reserves and should also declare their availability before leaving Salford. Please see Biathle Selection policy on the Web site. * Please note that satisfactory performance is considered to be within 20% of the winning time.
The GB team kit will be supplied, at concessionary prices, by Viga Athletic Clothing who will be at Salford during the day to take your orders. Also available is a blue GB Team Polo Shirt for non competing Supporters of the GB Team. Nirvana Europe will also be present to take your bookings for flights and/or accommodation, should you be successful.
This competition requires many people to help and ensure, for the benefit of the competitors, its smooth running. If you have anyone coming with you who would like to help with registration, marking, starting, timekeeping, recording, marshalling or results, please let me know your preference before the event.
Please use the large Lowry Shopping Centre car park close by. Directions to the Salford Quays are attached and I look forward to seeing you there.

Modern Pentathlon membership breaks 4,000posted by Peter Hart on14-12-2006
Membership of the MPAGB has reached an all-time high with over 4,000 subscribing members. The MPAGB today announced final membership figures for the 2006 season which reflect the rapid growth in interest and participation in Modern Pentathlon since 2004 and the continued growth of the sport throughout Great Britain.
Girls'/women's participation continues to experience significant growth, with 2166 athletes registered in 2006.
The South East Region leads the nation with more than 800 members, ahead of the Southern Region and South West, each with more than 500 participants.
Anthony Temple QC, the MPAGBs Chairman, said: 'This continuing growth reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of our staff and members. We changed the basis of our individual and school membership in 2005, and have been pleased to see the surge in participation since then. We have doubled our membership in the last 18 months, but as far as I am concerned this is just the beginning: we are looking forward to further increases next year.'
